El Salvador, or San Salvador (Republica
de El Salvador), the smallest but most densely peopled of the republics
of Central America, bounded on the north and east by Honduras, south
by the Pacific Ocean, and west by Guatemala. El Salvador has a coastline
extending for about 160 miles from the mouth of the Rio de la Paz
to that of the Goascoran in the Bay of Fonseca. Its length from
E. to W. is 140 miles, and its average breadth about 60 miles.

Izalco
Volcano. The Izalco volcano is one of the youngest volcanic cones
in the Americas. The lake is sunken deep within the base of a huge volcanic
crater, and is overshadowed by the sharp peaks of Cerro Verde

San Andrés ruins indicate that the Maya lived here for more than
1000 years before being replaced by Nahuatl speaking Pipil tribes related
to the Toltec in the post classic period (around 1100 AD).

El Cuco is located in the eastern part of El Salvador, about 100 miles
a 3-hour drive from La Libertad. El Cuco is a very small fishing village,
what I would consider a true surfing paradise where the atmosphere is
totally laid back even slower than La Libertad.
